Both Virginia’s Democrat Senators Release Statements Defending Northam Blackface/KKK Photos

(Tea Party PAC) – Both of Virginia’s Democrat Senators, Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, released statements Friday night defending Governor Ralph Northam after a photo from his medical school yearbook was uncovered depicting the Governor in either blackface or a KKK robe.

While Warner said that the photo was “shocking and deeply offensive,” he did not call on Northam to resign, rather, said “The Governor must now listen to the people and communities he has hurt, and carefully consider what comes next.”

Kaine referred to the yearbook photo as “horrible,” also suggesting that Northam “listen to those he has hurt and reflect on how to move forward.”

Were this a Republican, they’d be calling for his head.

Northam has admitted to being one of the men in the photo, however, he has not revealed whether he was the one dressed in blackface or the KKK robe.

On Friday afternoon, he released a statement apologizing for the phot, yet refused to resign.

Dems may undyingly protect their own, but Republicans are calling on him to resign.

The president of the NAACP, Derrick Johnson, also called on him to resign, saying, “Blackface in any manner is always racist and never okay. No matter the party affiliation, we can not stand for such behavior, which is why the NAACP is calling for the resignation of Virginia Governor Ralph Northam.”
