(Tea Party PAC) – On Tuesday, the White House formally informed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and three of the House committee chairs that they will not be cooperating with their impeachment inquiry, which they called “illegitimate” and “dangerous.”
This has now resulted in a standoff between Congress and the White House, but based on what we’ve come to expect from our no-BS president, we can probably imagine who is going to win in the end.
White House Counsel Pat Cipollone penned an 8-page letter to Speaker Pelosi and the chairs of three key House committees, Reps. Schiff, Cummings, and Engel, to inform them that their impeachment inquiry “lacks any legitimate constitutional foundation,” and violates President Donald Trump’s rights to due process.
Cipollone also called the Democrats’ impeachment inquiry a partisan effort to “to overturn the results of the 2016 election” of President Donald Trump.
“Your unprecedented actions have left the president with no choice,” the letter read.
“In order to fulfill his duties to the American people, the Constitution, the Executive Branch, and all future occupants of the Office of the presidency, President Trump and his administration cannot participate in your partisan and unconstitutional inquiry under these circumstances,” it continued.
“Given that your inquiry lacks any legitimate constitutional foundation, any pretense of fairness, or even the most elementary due process protections, the executive branch cannot be expected to participate in it,” Cipollone wrote.
Earlier on Tuesday, the State Department blocked an interview by EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland hours before he was set to testify on Capitol Hill, which sent Democrats into panic mode.
You see, the Democrats refuse to hold a full vote on the House floor for an impeachment inquiry.
They’re going over many of their members’ heads, trying to have their cake and eat it too.
President Trump won’t stand for this. He’s calling their bluff!
Pelosi is trying to push forward with impeachment without holding a full vote so she doesn’t expose the members of her caucus who would be put at risk in their red districts if they were to go on record as formally supporting impeachment.
What’s more, without a full vote on impeachment, the Minority members in the House Judiciary and House Intelligence committees have no subpoena power themselves to call witnesses.
This is obstruction at its finest!
On Tuesday, the White House told reporters that no officials from the administration will testify in the impeachment probe.
One senior official said, “that is administration policy under current circumstances.“
