Guess What Border Patrol Credits With Whopping 73% Drop In Border Apprehensions Over Last Five Months?

(Tea Party PAC) – There has been a nearly 100,000 drop in the number of migrants illegally crossing the border over the last five months, something no doubt the Democrats would prefer you not know about as they continue their impeachment campaign while running a bunch of open-borders advocates in their primary for 2020.

But there is, and there’s one single factor that Border Patrol officials attribute for the drop: President Donald Trump.

US Customs and Border Protection released its Southwest Border Migration Report this week, indicating a drop of almost 73% in apprehensions over the last five months, which seems to correlate closely with changes in Trump’s policies.

“This Administration has implemented critical policies and reached important agreements with our partners in Mexico, El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala that have resulted in the fifth consecutive month of reduced apprehensions on the Southwest border,” Acting Commissioner Mark Morgan said.

The number of apprehended border crossers peaked in May with 132,856.

However, numbers dropped to just 35,444 in October.

In Mexico, the newly-formed National Guard has been deployed along the shared border between the two nations as well as their own southern border after a series of positive agreements between the US and Mexico.

The Border Patrol also noted that Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy and other firm policies have been a major contributing factor to the lowered border apprehensions.

Biz Pac Review notes that “Trump announced his historic immigration deal in June as he suspended the tariffs against Mexico and achieved cooperation from the nation’s leaders to accept all asylum seekers, including those who step foot inside the United States either legally or illegally.”

“When the Mexican National Guard deployed on the southern side of the Rio Grande, traffic across the border virtually stopped,” a Border Patrol agent told Breitbart Texas on Thursday. “We still see crossings along the river, but it has dropped from more than 1,000 per day to only about 200.”

Officials in the Del Rio Sector also credited the shift to the Migrant Protection Protocol. Now, asylum seekers must wait in Mexico as their cases are being processed in the US.

According to the Border Patrol Report:

Defying typical, seasonal trends, enforcement actions declined in October for the first time in seven years. CBP’s total enforcement actions on our Southwest border declined by 14 percent in October, compared to September, for a total of 45,250.

This number reflects a 19-percent decline in the number of inadmissible aliens at U.S. ports of entry, and a 12 percent decline in Border Patrol apprehensions.

“These are positive results, but Congress must pass meaningful legislation to stop the exploitation of vulnerable families and children, and bring integrity back to our broken immigration system,” Morgan said in the CBP press release.

In Fiscal Year 2019, a total of 851,508 people were apprehended between ports of entry on the Southwest Border, according to CBP.

What’s more, the report indicated that 47,000 pounds of drugs were seized on our southwest border by CBP last month.
