(Tea Party PAC) – One truth that we have learned during the coronavirus pandemic is just how terrible of a job Democratic governors are doing in preventing their cities from descending into chaos and becoming hot spots for this awful illness.
Nowhere is that seen more clearly than with Gov. Andrew Cuomo in New York City. If you’ll recall, this is the same man who ordered COVID-19 patients to be put in with nursing home residents, which caused thousands upon thousands of deaths. Yet, for some odd reason, many on the left hail him as some sort of hero and are telling the rest of the country to look to the state of New York for inspiration on how to properly handle this virus.
The left proves once again that liberalism is a mental disorder.
If New York City is doing so well, why is Gov. Cuomo desperately begging wealthy residents to return and save the city?
Check out the details from The Gateway Pundit:
Nearly a half a million New Yorkers left the city earlier this year to flee the Covid crisis.
Many wealthy residents flocked to their summer homes in Connecticut or the Hamptons.
Cuomo failed the people of New York with his edict ordering Covid patients back into nursing homes.
Thousands of elderly died because of Cuomo’s dangerous Covid order.
As New York was suffering from Covid, Cuomo and de Blasio sat back as Black Lives Matter militants destroyed businesses and looted stores.
Okay, so think about this for a moment. Why in the world would these people want to come back to a city that was the worst in the country for cases of coronavirus, knowing the kind of awful decisions that Cuomo made that led to the deaths of so many good people?
These rich people have the means to stay away from the city for a very long time, well into the period where this virus no longer matters. Why take unnecessary risks? What could they possibly gain from returning and putting themselves in danger?
And it’s not just COVID-19 that’s the problem. As noted above, the rioting, looting, and anarchy that Democratic leadership in New York allowed to happen is also reason enough to stay gone. Again, why take a risk like that?
Crime spiked in wealthy New York City neighborhoods. Crime is up 286% on the Upper East Side and the Democrat officials responded by defunding and defanging the NYPD.
Cuomo said at a press conference on Monday that he is begging wealthiest residents who left the city to come back: ‘I literally talk to people all day long who are in their Hamptons house who also lived here, or in their Hudson Valley house or in their Connecticut weekend house, and I say, “You gotta come back, when are you coming back?”
“‘We’ll go to dinner, I’ll buy you a drink. “‘Come over, I’ll cook.”
‘They’re not coming back right now. And you know what else they’re thinking? If I stay there, I pay a lower income tax because they don’t pay the New York City surcharge,’ he said.
Cuomo and de Blasio may have just realized their Marxism has permanently chased away the wealthiest 1% who pay half of the city’s taxes.
Could it be that Cuomo is getting a hard lesson in the reality of socialism and the fact that it doesn’t work when practically applied? We can only hope that is indeed the case. It’s doubtful, however, that Cuomo is the kind of leopard who will change his spots.
He’s a Democratic stooge, easily controlled by those in power who shape the narrative. The left won’t easily give that up, especially since he’s in control of one of the most important cities in the country, one that is responsible for helping to create and shape the culture of the whole United States.
