Memorial Day Is Supposed To Commemorate Fallen Soldiers, But NY Times Decides To Do Something Disgusting Instead

(Tea Party PAC) – Memorial Day is supposed to be a day that we set aside to remember the dead who have served our nation throughout the past and have passed on from this life into the next. It’s a somber time that is meant to honor those who gave it all in service for our country. Instead, it’s become a time for cookouts and visits to the park or the beach and a free day off work.

But not this year, thanks to the coronavirus. You’d think since everyone is pretty much stuck at home right now, folks would actually take a little time to honor our fallen members of the military. Maybe many Americans are. The NY Times sure isn’t. In fact, they’re doing quite the opposite.

The left-wing publication posted a piece on Memorial Day, asking why the U.S. military celebrates “white supremacy.”

Here’s the scoop from Breitbart:

The New York Times published an editorial on the first day of Memorial Day weekend asking: “Why Does the U.S. Military Celebrate White Supremacy?”

The article‘s byline is the entire editorial board, and it is accompanied by an image of a bullet shaped like a Ku Klux Klan robe.

The central complaint of the article is that there are U.S. military bases named after Confederate Army officers:

This same toxic legacy clings to the 10 United States military installations across the South that were named for Confederate Army officers during the first half of the 20th century. Apologists often describe the names as a necessary gesture of reconciliation in the wake of the Civil War. In truth, the namings reflect a federal embrace of white supremacy that found its most poisonous expression in military installations where black servicemen were deliberately placed under the command of white Southerners — who were said to better “understand” Negroes — and confined to substandard housing, segregated transportation systems and even “colored only” seating in movie houses.

The gall of these people is unbelievable. Who would say something this awful during a holiday weekend where we’re supposed to be honoring folks who served? It’s uncouth to say the least. In all honesty, it deserves much harsher words, but we won’t go there right now.

While not at all agreeing with their point, they do have the right to write up such a piece, but does that mean they should have posted that up over this weekend, knowing full well what they were doing? It seems pretty clear, morally speaking, that this is disgusting. They ought to be ashamed of themselves for dishonoring those who served their country. Soldiers have given far more for our nation than these “journalists” ever will.

The editorial further claims that “The federal government embraced pillars of the white supremacist movement when it named military bases in the South.”

It rejects the argument — offered by the U.S. Army during the Obama administration that “there was no need to expunge Confederate base names because the names were merely ‘historic’ and ‘represent individuals, not causes or ideologies.’”

The editorial also claims that the names were adopted “as part of broader accommodation in which the military embraced stringent segregation so as not to offend Southerners.”

The South has historically contributed disproportionately to the ranks of the U.S. military, and continues to do so today: in fiscal year 2017, it contained 33 percent of the nation’s young adult population, but provided 41 percent of the nation’s military enlistees.

Of course, The Times does not provide any further “evidence” of the military “celebrating white supremacy,” which means they are taking molehill and making it into a mountain. Individuals like this are always looking for something to be angry about. When something doesn’t exist, they make it up or twist something up to make it fit some sort of narrative they can get huffy about.

It’s a rather sad existence when you think about it. However, that’s not stopped them from doing it, over and over again.

Rather than pay attention to these folks, take the time to remember our veterans who have died, many in the line of duty. These folks gave it all in order for us to have the way of life we enjoy and often take for granted. Never forget them.

  6. What can you expect from liberal news papers. They don’t report the news like the old days, they report their own opinions of what they believe to be news.

    • Actually some of what the NY Slimes editorial board states as their opinion is true (but it didn’t belong in their “toilet paper” on Memorial Day). They stated: “Apologists often describe the names [of Confederate Generals for Southern military installations] as a necessary gesture of reconciliation in the wake of the Civil War.” And they also noted that the “federal government embraced pillars of the white supremacist movement when it named military bases in the South.”

But they left out some key facts: First, the names were assigned as a concession to the Congressmen of the “Deep South” because these politicos had so much clout. Second, remember that the Deep South was also called the “Solid South” meaning the “Solid Democrat South” and most, if not all of them, (and even some Northerners, like Robert Byrd from West Virginia) were members of the KKK (Byrd was an “Exalted Cyclops” in the KKK).

It is strange that 90% of blacks would vote for a party that was led for so many decades by members of the terror group (KKK) that oppressed them; and even today Demos (and they) support Planned Parenthood which was founded by Margaret Sanger whose avowed purpose to keep their race down for eugenic purposes. I fear that it is not stupidity but rather sheer ignorance. Fortunately, black men have started to figure out which leader has helped them gain more than Democrat/Socialists, and even some black women are beginning to see their way into Blexit. There may be that the light of truth is filtering through.

  7. How Unpatriotic and discusting a remark so negative about celebrating those who have died to help us maintain our freedom and rights for all of us!! For shame, for shame! Our veterans of ALL the wars deserve our remembrances! Place your negativity on the people who tried to take away our rights as free people – not for those who died to save them! My ancestors came to this country as servants to pay their way, then when paid back, were free to earn their own way in a new welcoming world – the United States of America! You are a spoiled disgruntled human who has no respect for what others have endured through the ages for “YOU” to be free. No one is perfect, but our country does more for ALL the PEOPLE than any other country in the world has done!

Boycott the New York Times until they can get some patriotic Americans to run it!

  8. Now agree or disagree with the New York paper, these facts put forward by the paper are proven facts which were discussed many times over the years, and that was thing put fprward before WWII, for commanders of black troops, the requirement was for them to be from the South and have experience in dealing with blacks. Now this is proven through military archives. Now every black outfit had a white southerner in charge. Now as the hearing records show when someone objected to this in the military headquarters, the statement by one of th upper brass was, ‘White Southerners know how to keep even anuppety black in their place.” A sorry day in the history of this USA, even when black outfits excelled they were not allowed to have credit for it in any way. It took yearsafter WWII for th actual information to come out about how good of soldiersa the blacks were, and how the white commanders got promoted and the black commanders did not. Now i know every onbe i served with in Nam were just as good as any white soldier, then when they returned home they were treated like 2nd class citizens.

    • Some of what you say might be partly true in a slanted way, but you forgot a critical fact in your last semi-illiterate and ignorant sentence: “Now i know every onbe i served with in Nam were just as good as any white soldier, then when they returned home they were treated like 2nd class citizens.” You mentioned that when black soldiers returned home from Viet Nam, “they were treated like 2nd class citizens”; but so too were the white soldiers treated like 2nd class citizens. They too were spat upon and yelled at and otherwise maligned by all of the same rotten lefties like those who write for the New York Slimes (whom you seem to like). How do I know? I know because I lived through those times too, and I was in the military.

OBTW, the word “I” is capitalized; “every onbe” should be “everyone” and as the subject of the verb “were,” it should be “was” as in “everyone … was,” not “everyone … were”; “that was thing put fprward before WWII” is total incomprehensible rubbish; and just because things are discussed many times, that doesn’t make them facts.

  9. Who buys a paper any longer! I wouldn’t have known this happened if I didn’t read it on this site. Why doesn’t this site ban anything The NY Times says, why give them the time of day.

  10. Memorial Day.

A day when we remember those who gave all to prevent another 9/11.

A day when we remember those who gave all to end the conquest of eugenist nent on genocide.

A day when we remember those who gave all to end slavery and keep our nation united.

A day when we remember those who gave all to end the tyranny of those who who would tell us what we should think, say, or do.

A day when we remember those who gave all to keep our nation safe from attacks without and within.

And maybe a day when we remember those who will end the liberal elitist divisive eugenist NY Times by simply ignoring them and forcing them to close their doors.

They are like a flatuation on a crowded bus. You can’t escape it, but you hold yout breath because you know it is only a matter of time before the air clears and the stinker or you are out of there.

    Memorial Day.

A day we can remember those who gave all. Not a day we have to remember the flatuents of the NY Times.

  11. This is why I WON’T subscribe to the NYT . . . EVER ! They produce GARBAGE and are a connoisseur of it. I will be VERY happy on the day they will close it’s DOORS – for good, OUT of BUSINESS. One Disgusted Patriot. Team Trump and his allies 2020.

  12. NY Times you are a disgusting ,disgraceful publication & should be shut-down. Had it not been for the military through our history you would not have the freedom that you do . To publish your garbage , but you have the freedom to do so because of the men & women in the military !!! Enjoy your Holiday all that work for this rage called the New York Times !!!

  13. Isn’t this the same worthless rag that repeatedly uses yellow journalism to fight against freedom of speech and freedom of press??? As in trying to eliminate the 1st Amendment????

  14. What really do you expect from the Communist ,Anti American Fools to say such a Vile thing about the Men and Women that gave their Lives for Our Freedom something that Muslim President would agree with 100

  15. The “fourth estate” is crumbling and nonsensical jibberish the “vaunted NY Times” puts out is a catalyst. Let them die their self inflicted slow death. Lived in NY for 50 years, the Times is a dishrag.

  16. Gov. Hogan and Mayor of Baltimore, you suck. The President
comes to Baltimore and Fort McHenry and what do you do, you are both no shows.

    • Because they are dems and don’t want to give any respect to our President who is a much better person than they are. Trump 2020. I am a forever Trumper.

    • “deplorable”: Actually, what you say is only half true. The mayor of Baltimore IS a Democrat/Socialist, but Gov. Hogan isn’t – he is a RINO!
