(Tea Party PAC) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi really might have stepped in the proverbial doodoo with that little stunt she pulled at the end of President Trump’s State of the Union address. You know, when she took it upon herself to rip up the copy of the speech she was given by the president?
As it turns out, this might have actually been a violation of ethics that could have some serious consequences for Pelosi. In fact, Rep. Matt Gaetz announced on Laura Ingraham’s Fox News program that he plans on filing an ethics complaint against the Speaker of the House for those very actions.
Here’s more from Breitbart:
A partial transcript is as follows:
LAURA INGRAHAM: Congressman Gaetz, you actually want to take a pretty aggressive step here. What is it?
REP. MATT GAETZ: Tomorrow, Laura, I will be filing charges against Nancy Pelosi in the House Ethics Committee. She disgraced the House of Representatives, she embarrassed our country, and she destroyed official records. The law does not allow the Speaker of the House to destroy the records of the House. The rules of the House do not permit some little temper tantrum because you don’t like what the President of the United States says.
You know what? A lot of Republicans are sick of the double standard here. When Joe Wilson made a comment and excited utterance, oh, the Democrats really brought the heat down on him — when he said that Obama lied about illegals getting healthcare under Obamacare. By the way, Joe Wilson was right. We’ve got to apply the same standards to the Democrats that they want to apply to us, and there will be an ethics investigation into Nancy Pelosi. We will start the ball rolling to have her censured. The first act begins tomorrow when Congressman Zeldin and I will join Kay Granger in a censure resolution, and we will force a vote on that resolution.
The White House wasn’t too thrilled with Nancy’s shredder routine either. Here’s more on that from the Daily Wire:
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) dominated the headlines following President Trump’s State of the Union address Tuesday after she, standing directly behind the president, ripped up his speech for all the world to see, later telling the press that she did so because it was a “dirty speech” and that shredding it was better than the “alternative.” Shortly after, the White House issued its official response to Pelosi’s viral moment.
“Speaker Pelosi just ripped up: One of our last surviving Tuskegee Airmen. The survival of a child born at 21 weeks. The mourning families of Rocky Jones and Kayla Mueller. A service member’s reunion with his family,” the White House tweeted. “That’s her legacy.”

Asked about her disrespectful actions, Pelosi told reporters that ripping up his “dirty speech” was the “courteous” thing to do considering the “alternative,” which she chose not to specify.
“It was the courteous thing to do, considering the alternative,” she said.
As The Daily Wire’s Amanda Prestigiacomo reported Tuesday night, Pelosi started off the SOTU by breaking tradition in refusing to announce President Trump properly. “Protocol, as decades of past SOTU addresses show, is for the House Speaker to announce the president by noting that it is their ‘high privilege and distinct honor’ to do so.”
“Members of Congress, I have the high privilege and distinct honor of presenting to you the President of the United States,” the traditional introduction states.
Instead, Pelosi conspicuously left out the key phrase, announcingsimply, “Members of Congress, the President of the United States.”
As The Daily Wire noted, as recently as 2015 then-House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) announced then-President Obama ahead of his SOTU address: “Members of congress, I have the high privilege and the distinct honor to present to you, the President of the United States.”
Pelosi pulled this stunt as a means of looking tough and disgusted so that she could appease the base of voters she knew were going to be disappointed when Trump was acquitted of all charges in his impeachment trial the following day. It was pre-planned, something that was evident when you rewatch the videos of the speech and see her ripping each page beforehand to ensure that the whole thing would rip at the end.
It’s an eye-roll inducing tactic, one that she will hopefully pay for with some sort of consequence. She really should resign her post as Speaker since she’s incapable of actually carrying out her duties objectively.
