President Trump Signs $1B Coronavirus Relief Bill Into Law; Here’s Some Of What’s In It

(Tea Party PAC) – While the coronavirus is spreading throughout the country making many folks incredibly ill and causing the deaths of some individuals, notably the elderly and immunocompromised, the virus isn’t stopping at destroying our physical health.

It’s also killing our economy.

This is mostly due to the fact that so many businesses and companies are opting to shut down for awhile and allow folks to practice social distancing, which is part of a nationwide strategy to try and contain the virus and keep it from spreading, especially to those at higher risk of complications from the illness.

Many are now out of work and this is crippling low income families, something that President Trump is hoping that the relief bill he just signed into law will help fix.

Here’s more from Breitbart:

The president did not sign the bill publicly, as the White House sent a statement from Trump notifying his approval of the legislation.

“The Act makes emergency supplemental appropriations and other changes to law to help the Nation respond to the coronavirus outbreak,” Trump said in his statement.

The bill negotiated between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin offers emergency paid sick leave, child care leave, as well as expanded unemployment benefits. It also allows Medicaid funding for free coronavirus testing and additional funds for food assistance programs.

The bill passed 90-8 in the Senate on Wednesday afternoon after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell urged Republicans to support the bill despite concerns from Republican senators.

“This is a time for urgent bipartisan action, and in this case, I do not believe we should let perfection be the enemy of something that will help even a subset of workers,” McConnell said.

Right now, as we speak, the Senate is working up another huge spending bill to help save the economy by sending cash directly to the American people and will bolster businesses that could potentially be ruined by the economic shutdown.

The White House has requested $1 trillion — yes, that’s a “t” — to fund the legislation and are hoping to negotiate the bill as quickly as possible to provide relief for individuals desperately in need.

“We are going to move here at warp speed for the Senate, which almost never does anything quickly,” McConnell said to reporters on Wednesday.

This virus is wreaking all kinds of havoc, but many are wondering if these massive bills, which will be funded by tax dollars, are the right solution to this issue. Others are worried that an economic collapse is on the way, something that will provide an opportunity for big government socialists inside the U.S. government to make sweeping changes that would encroach on our freedom and prosperity in the future.

One thing’s for sure. This is a lousy situation devoid of easy answers. May God bless our leaders with wisdom to make the right calls, no matter how hard they might be.

  1. I just hope the democrats don’t put all those perks in the bill that we don’t need. They tip us blind with those perks.

  2. That’s good the President signed the bill. The real question is how much pork did the
    democrat sneak into it??

  3. This is all well and good but it needs to have an ending provision so this does not affect future long-term policy. We do not want to go to socialized medicine because it will totally ruin our medical care. We can do more to make health insurance more affordable by opening the doors to larger groups and by offering different levels of insurance, with a minimal insurance llke McDonalds offers to its employees, which covers routine doctor visits and prescriptions but not much more. Keep abortion coverage out of it because it is an unneeded expense that taxpayers refuse to pay for. Why don’t we put it in front of the Supreme Court again so maybe they will kill it once and for all. Abortion has killed 50 million babies since Roe V. Wade was approved. This is genocide and compare it with the Holocaust where Hitler killed 11 million people which did include children and babies. It has got to end.

  4. My daughter was on a college trip halfway across the country last week.
We picked her up Monday- no testing for any type of anything.
So they are looking out for her help?
Hardly-they don’t want to be sued.
    C’mon sheeple-wake up!
    Follow the money !!!

  5. This whole contraptment was all about money- not people’s health.
Businesses don’t want to be held liable.
