(Tea Party PAC) – America, the greatest nation on earth, a country that has a well earned reputation for being able to pull together when it matters most, is more divided today along political lines than probably any other time in history.
The main culprit behind all of this is the progressive movement’s constant assault on unity through the pushing of their agenda in the mainstream media and the usurpation of power away from the people, consolidating it in the government, where it will no doubt be used to oppress people.
The most recent expression of this division is the current “coup” the Democratic Party is trying to pull by conducting an impeachment inquiry against President Trump in the most shady way possible.
Rep. Louie Gohmert recently spoke out about how dangerous this whole plot of the Democrats could really be, warning that it might be pushing America toward a Civil War.
Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) spoke from the House floor on Thursday to warn Democrat politicians that they are on the brink of pushing America into a civil war.
Never in the history of this country have we had such gross unfairness that one party would put armed guards with guns to prevent the duly authorized people from being able to hear the witnesses and see them for themselves. And then, oh, we hear from this resolution today, ‘we’re going to send you the depositions after we get through doctoring and looking at and editing the transcripts, we’ll send you those, so you have the evidence you need.’ That’s not the kind of evidence that a coup should be based on. If we’re going to have what they’re trying to legalize as a coup, we ought to have a right to see each of those witnesses.
Continuing, the Texas congressman pointed out that President Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani was not allowed in recent impeachment hearings, unlike 1974 and 1998 when Nixon and Clinton lawyers were allowed in impeachment hearings.
Next, Gohmert explained how Democrats are putting the country at risk by trying to dismantle Trump’s presidency, saying, “You see, they want it to be a one-sided, non-due process, sham court, and it’s about to push this country to a civil war if they were to get their wishes. And if there’s one thing I don’t want to see in my lifetime, I don’t want to ever have participation in, it’s a civil war.”
“Some historian, I don’t remember who, said, ‘guns are only involved in the last phase of a civil war.’ What’s gone on here has not protected the Constitution. It’s not protected the institutions.
It’s not protected this little experiment in self-government. No, what it has done is put it all at risk,” he fumed.
Ending his passionate plea, Rep. Gohmert warned Democrats that some Republicans will try to do the exact same thing being done to Trump to the next Democrat president.
“They’ll try to set him up and create a coup. Like I say, it won’t be me, but that’s the way history works.”
Does this mean for sure that we will breakdown into actual, physical violence? Not necessarily, but it sure seems likely. The vast majority of such a battle seems as if it would be fought digitally and on social media rather than in person, though it will eventually head that way.
This country needs to be brought together, and the only way that can happen is if responsible leaders on both sides of the aisle stand up and remind people of all we have in common, our shared human experience. They need to stress civility in conversation over matters affecting our country.
There also needs to be a cleansing in the media and a return to objective journalism instead of sensationalism, something both sides have been guilty of from time to time.
If we want our republic to last, we must get back to the core of our beliefs.
