Snobby British Ambassador To The US Who Disparaged President Trump Resigns

(Tea Party PAC) – The British Ambassador to the United States whose scathingly critical comments of President Donald Trump were leaked to the media over the weekend has now resigned from his post.

As well he should!

Referencing the huge media storm generated by the leaks of his comments, in which he had called the president “dysfunctional”, “clumsy”, and “incompetent” in a series of confidential briefing notes, Sir Kim announced his resignation Wednesday morning.

Sir Kim, in a letter to his Foreign Office, wrote, “the current situation is making it impossible for me to carry out my role as I would like”. The Foreign Office in turn told him he had behaved with “dignity, professionalism and class.”

In a response to the resignation in Britain’s House of Commons Wednesday afternoon, Theresa May, who will be replaced as Prime Minister this month, maintained that she supported Sir Kim and thanked him for a “lifetime of service.”

May also implied that her nation’s “values and principles” are “under pressure”, which is being interpreted in the UK mainstream media another attack on President Trump.

The Prime Minister said:

I have spoken to Sir Kim Darroch. I told him it is a matter of great regret that he has felt it necessary to leave his position as ambassador in Washington. The whole cabinet rightly gave its full support to Sir Kim on Tuesday. Sir Kim has given a lifetime of service to the United Kingdom and we owe him an enormous debt of gratitude.

Good government depends on public servants being able to give full and frank advice. I want all our public servants to have the confidence to be able to do that, and I hope the house will reflect on the importance of defending our values and principles, particularly when they are under pressure.

Nigel Farage, leader of the Brexit party, called for Darroch to resign after his anti-Trump opinons were leaked. Farae said Wednesday that the resignation was the “right decision” and that he should be replaced by a diplomat who supported Brexit, and who wanted to negotiate a solid trade deal with the US.

Since his comments were leaked, Sir Kim has been on the receiving end of some very Trumpian insults from the president, who called him a “wacky… pompous fool” and that the United States would no longer deal with him.

On Tuesday, Darroch was uninvited to several upcoming events, and a planned trade discussion between the US and the UK was cancelled entirely.
