Thousands Of Scientists And Health Professionals Have Come Out And Released A Message About Coronavirus Lockdowns; Liberals Are Going To Lose It

(Tea Party PAC) – One of the most disturbing trends we’ve seen since the coronavirus pandemic kicked off at the beginning of the year is how it seems like a large majority of individuals on the left really don’t want the masks and lockdowns to actually end.

Every time some sort of positive new development occurs, folks like Dr. Anthony Fauci and other radical leftists are right there to try and discredit it and tell people that wearing masks and social distancing are the “new normal.” Part of that is because the left wants to politicize the pandemic and use it to prevent Donald Trump from being reelected president.

However, the other part of it is that Democrats see an opportunity through this pandemic to seize a large portion of authority and power from the people. It’s a test to find out just how far they can push people into compliance before they push back.

Well, a group of 6,500 scientists and medical professionals have a message for folks who are super into these lockdowns and mask mandates, and boy are they going to hate it.

Via WND:

“Listen to the science.”

That’s been the rallying cry of the left on a myriad of issues over the past several years: abortion, sex and gender, climate change and, most recently, the coronavirus.

Never mind the fact that objective science often disagrees with the left’s contentions.

So, they should be happy to reopen the country now that over 6,500 scientists and medical professionals have signed an anti-lockdown petition, according to the U.K. Daily Mail.

The petition, written by Dr. Sunetra Gupta of the University of Oxford, Dr. Martin Kulldorff of Harvard and Dr. Jay Bhattacharya of Stanford, calls for the United States and the United Kingdom to end their lockdowns and promotes allowing the virus to spread among young people in order to build herd immunity.

Over 60,000 members of the public have backed the petition.

The authors advocate protecting those who are vulnerable while letting the rest of us get back to business as usual.

In support, the petition cites the low death rate among young and healthy people who contract the coronavirus, as well as the negative physical and mental effects of the continued lockdowns.

“Those who are not vulnerable should immediately be allowed to resume life as normal,” the scientists wrote.

“Keeping these [lockdown] measures in place until a vaccine is available will cause irreparable damage, with the underprivileged disproportionately harmed.”

The scientists are right: Many people are coping with mental health issues due to prolonged isolation brought about by the lockdowns. Many people are struggling to feed their families because their jobs have been shut down by the government — including many restaurant and hourly workers who live paycheck to paycheck.

That’s not to say the coronavirus isn’t serious. Rather, there are many other repercussions of shutting down large chunks of the country with no end in sight other than whether fewer people are exposed to the virus.

The coronavirus is definitely serious. For a specific group of high-risk individuals. Just like the flu is dangerous for that same demographic of individuals. Yes, this virus is worse than the flu. Point granted. But in many ways it is similar. And since we’ve not shutdown things during flu season before, why should we do so now? It’ll only prolong this illness and in all likelihood, cost lives.

It’s an inconvenient truth many on the liberal side of things simply don’t want to believe. These individuals tend to be controlled by their emotions, rather than logic. They are legitimately terrified and it blows their minds when they see folks who aren’t scared to death of COVID-19 who are applying sound logic to the pandemic instead of having a meltdown. And that leads to them becoming angry. Progressives think a lack of emotional hysteria is the same thing as not caring about people. That, of course, is hogwash.

Of course, just because a lot of scientists and professors agree that we should strive for herd immunity doesn’t guarantee it will work.

Because the coronavirus is a novel virus, there are many unanswered questions regarding the long-term effects of the disease and whether contracting it once precludes you from getting it again.

However, petitions like this and the opinions of a large number of medical and scientific experts should have been part of the conversation from the beginning.

Instead, the left — the self-proclaimed “party of science” — has hidden behind the vague veil of “science” to ram down destructive policies.

“Listen to the science” means nothing if it is simply used as an end to promote a narrative and shut down dissenters, rather than as an objective tool to determine policies and procedures.

At the end of the day, we need to be able to have access to information that conflicts so we can compare the data and make up our own minds, at the state and local level, how best to approach the pandemic.

The solution that best seems to help protect the vulnerable while not infringing on the rights of the people is for those who are high risk to follow mask mandates and quarantine protocols in order to prevent contracting the illness, while young, healthy people get out and live their lives so they can spread it around to each other, build up immunity, and help get this thing under control.

The coronavirus isn’t going anywhere. It’s with us for life. Time to get back to living and adapt.
