(Tea Party PAC) – On Monday, the now shamelessly censorial Twitter, armed with their new favorite excuse to silence and suppress Trump supporters, slashed over 70,000 accounts from the network that promoted the QAnon conspiracy theory.
As was their reason for permanently banning President Donald Trump’s account on Friday, they pointed to alleged incitement of the violence on Capitol Hill last week.
“Given the violent events in Washington, DC, and increased risk of harm, we began permanently suspending thousands of accounts that were primarily dedicated to sharing QAnon content on Friday afternoon,” the company wrote in a blog post.
“These accounts were engaged in sharing harmful QAnon-associated content at scale and were primarily dedicated to the propagation of this conspiracy theory across the service.”
Twitter says the removal resulted in changes to the follower count for some users, the Epoch Times notes, even as many as thousands.
The purge began on the same day that the network announced they’d be booting Trump from the network.
This is an unprecedented move on the part of Big Tech and one that was denounced by Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel and Mexico President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as well it ought to have been by anyone who understands the implications of cutting out the platform of a sitting president of the United States.
Trump rightly called out the Democrats for working with Silicon Valley to silence their ideological opponents.
“The QAnon movement follows clues from cryptic messages posted on an anonymous board online. One of the prominent themes of the theory alleges that global elites are part of a satanic pedophile ring,” the Epoch Times explains.
“The purge appears to have ensnared prominent pro-Trump figures, including former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, who embraced some of QAnon’s slogans and terminology, and Flynn’s attorney Sidney Powell. Ron Watkins, the former head of the 8kun message board, which hosts the QAnon posts, also vanished from Twitter around the time of the mass removal,” they add.
This week, Facebook also banned the phrase “Stop the Steal” from the network ahead of next week’s Inauguration Day in apparent anticipation of further violence.
None of these networks did a single thing during the widespread and highly destructive—even deadly—violence that raged across the nation this summer.
Oh, I’m sorry—Twitter donated money to Black Lives Matter-linked causes rather than suppress hashtags, rhetoric, and accounts that were spreading and inciting violence.
To say nothing of the fact that the actual Islamic State was recruiting on Twitter for years!
The cognitive dissonance is mind-blowing.
How do these people sleep at night?
