Watch: The Incredible Moment Trump Told Rush Limbaugh He Was Getting The Presidential Medal Of Freedom During SOTU

(Tea Party PAC) – Tuesday night’s State of the Union address was full of moving and evocative moments from a president who is a master showman and who loves our country and its people.

One of the noteworthy moments came when he noted conservative talk radio legend Rush Limbaugh, whom he had invited to the speech at the last minute.

When Limbaugh rose to thunderous applause and cheers from the conservatives in the chamber (the Democrats sat on their hands, as they did much of the evening), Trump announced that he was bestowing him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Limbaugh was clearly floored.

This last-minute gesture from Trump to one of the greatest living conservative icons of our time came just days after Limbaugh told listeners that he had been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.

“Here tonight is a special man,” President Trump said during his address to the nation, “beloved by millions of Americans, who just received a stage 4 advanced cancer diagnosis. This is not good news, but what is good news is that he is the greatest fighter and winner that you will ever meet.”

“Rush, in recognition of all that you have done for our nation — the millions of people a day that you speak to and that you inspire, and all of the incredible work that you have done for charity — I am proud to announce tonight that you will be receiving our country’s highest civilian honor: the Presidential Medal of Freedom,” Trump declared.

A stunned Limbaugh rose, clearly moved, as First Lady Melania Trump, whom he sat beside, presented him with the medal and placed it around his neck.

You’d have to have a heart of stone not to choke back tears at this powerful moment.

As the speech continued (with many additional moving moments), the talk show host couldn’t help but admire the medal he’d just received, as Daily Caller reporter Henry Rodgers noticed, referring to the scene as “a really moving moment.”

A few hours before the speech, reports began to circulate that Limbaugh had been invited to the State of the Union and that President Donald Trump had planned to present him with the nation’s highest civilian honor, the Medal of Freedom.

As Limbaugh had made his way to the gallery for the president’s speech, a Fox News reporter asked him about the rumors that he might receive the honor.

“I’m still in awe,” Limbaugh proclaimed.

  1. Only two other radio personalities have been honored with this medal. Lowell Thomas And Paul Harvey. Rush deserves his place among the best. And that’s the rest of that story.
