(Tea Party PAC) – Radical left-wing California Gov. Gavin Newsom decided to defend the rather absurd actions of local utility companies like Pacific Gas & Electric and SoCal Edison for opting to cut off electricity for hundreds of thousands of people in an attempt to “prevent dangerous wildfires.”
In other words, if you’re complaining about this measure and the inconvenience it provides, you need to remember your place among the peasants and let the rich, educated elitists handle all the problems.
Here’s more via Gateway Pundit:
“The reality is that we want to protect people. We want to make sure people are safe. This is what PG&E thinks is in the best interest of their customers and ultimately for this region and the state,” the governor said.
“It is a massive inconvenience,” he added. “No one wants to see this happen. But it is a public safety issue.”
Nearly 1 million people in 3 dozen counties in Northern California were cut off from electricity Wednesday for their own safety.
SoCal Edison warned that several counties in Southern California may be next as the Santa Ana winds are expected to whip up this week.
Santa Ana’s are very dry and often warm winds in California that can have gusts that exceed 80 mph which create dangerous fire conditions.
LA Times reported:
In an unprecedented move, Pacific Gas & Electric early Wednesday began shutting off power to about 800,000 customers across Northern California in an attempt to avoid wildfires caused by winds damaging power equipment.
The first power cutoffs, expected to affect 513,000 customers, began shortly after midnight in several counties around Sacramento, including Placer and Yuba, amid strengthening winds and continued to roll out into the early morning hours.
The blackouts will impact 34 counties in Central and Northern California. It would be the biggest power shutdown so far as utilities across the state attempt to reduce wildfire risk due to heavy wind. Utilities malfunctions have been tied to some of the state’s most destructive fires, including last year’s Camp fire, which devastated Paradise, Calif., and the 2017 wine country blazes.
Even Democrat lawmakers in California are complaining about this unprecedented move by the utility companies, calling it “third world.”
“I think it is excessive,” said state Dem Senator Jerry Hill. ”PG&E clearly hasn’t made its system safe. These shut-downs are supposed to be surgical. But shutting down power to 800,000 people in 31 counties is by no means surgical.”
“This cannot be something that can be acceptable nor long-term,” Hill said. “This is third world, and we are not.”
Residents living in Northern California were forced to scramble double time to try and prepare for the outage, with many folks being worried about the impact this outage would have on senior citizens and those who have serious health problems that need medical equipment.
This is a legitimate fear that is reasonable to think about in the midst of taking such extreme action.
Democratic policies are ultimately responsible for taking a beautiful state like California and essentially turning it into a third world country, but the left will never acknowledge this is the case, opting instead to keep pushing the same tired ideas to try and force socialism to work.
Newsflash. It won’t work. No matter what. Socialism violates universal principles and truths that govern our reality and no amount of twisting and turning will fix a broken system.
