(Tea Party PAC) – The issue that kicked off all of the hatred the radical left has for President Trump is that of illegal immigration, something that’s been a hot-button issue in America for a very, very long time. You see, the left is deeply invested in allowing illegal aliens to come across the southern border, having targeted that demographic for inclusion into the Democratic Party by offering them all kinds of programs paid for by the American taxpayer.
This is how they have padded their voter registration numbers and how they have ensared folk to make them lifelong Democrats. Without illegal immigration, a huge part of their plan to win future elections falls apart. President Trump’s hardlined stance against illegal immigration, which includes sealing the border with a massive wall, threatens those plans.
Which is why President Trump’s budget request to Congress is making so many on the left foam at the mouth with pure fury. As it turns out, the request reveals that the Trump administration has enough money to build 1,000 miles of border wall.
The summary of the budget request says, “With funding made available from 2017 to 2020, the Administration will build up to approximately 1,000 miles of border wall along the Southwest border.”
Here’s more on this from the good folks over at Breitbart News.
There is a delay between the arrival of funding and the completion of construction, so the administration is unlikely to reach 1,000 miles of wall for several years. The current schedule says roughly 500 miles will be completed by early 2021.
The funding is being taken from the Department of Defense’s construction budget, which is allowed by various federal laws that grant some levels of emergency power to the president.
In the last two years, Trump has switched $14 billion in funding, partly because the regular funding is still beset by Democratic opposition and GOP passivity.
To build 1,000 miles, Trump may need to switch additional funds during 2020 and 2021.
The budget request for 2021 seeks just $2 billion in regular funding at the Department of Homeland Security. But that low-ball request minimizes the chance of a government shutdown just before the election.
Another budget document reveals the following:
The FY 2021 President’s Budget enhances border security through investment in U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) staffing, infrastructure, and technology. Funding is provided for the following priorities:
Nearly $2.0 billion for construction of approximately 82 miles of new border wall system. Funding supports real estate and environmental planning, land acquisition, wall system design, construction, and construction oversight. Border wall system impedes illicit crossborder activity by providing law enforcement with an increased response time and greater opportunity for successful law enforcement resolution.
Folks, the bottom line with illegal immigration is the fact that individuals coming here without legal permission are dangerous to the country. Sure, not every person who crosses over is a violent criminal, but violence isn’t the only way to be a threat to national security.
Some of these folks bring in bad illnesses that threaten the health and safety of our people. Others have come here to simply take advantage of our generosity, and as such, are mooching off the welfare programs we offer in record numbers. This puts a heavy strain on the taxpayers who fund the program and often, Americans who need assistance are overlooked in favor of helping people who broke the law to get here.
Then, of course, there’s the criminals who come here looking to escape prosecution and jail time. Members of violent gangs and cartels cross over all of the time, hellbent on hurting American citizens and launching new criminal careers on our soil.
The border wall won’t stop it all, but slowing down the influx of illegals drastically improves the situation here and enables border patrol to do their job. Here’s to hoping that wall gets constructed.
