“A Dangerous Trend”: Speaker Johnson Vows to Close Leftist Courts

(PCC)The Republican pushback is gaining traction in Washington and throughout Congress, with House Speaker Mike Johnson leading the legislative charge.

Johnson has come out forcefully in support of President Donald Trump’s recent executive actions, denouncing federal district court judges who have issued rulings blocking key elements of Trump’s agenda. Calling the rulings “a dangerous trend” and a violation of the Constitution’s separation of powers, Johnson is now pushing an unprecedented proposal: the closure of what he calls “leftist federal district courts” that are, in his words, “unconstitutionally attempting to block the will of the American people.”

During a heated press conference on Capitol Hill this morning, Johnson stood alongside Trump administration officials and Republican leaders, denouncing recent judicial rulings as “an activist overreach” and accusing certain courts of functioning as “ideological outposts for the far left.”

“The American people elected President Trump with a clear and historic mandate,” Johnson declared. “When unelected district judges try to dismantle his executive actions with politically motivated injunctions, they are not defending the Constitution—they are undermining it. The result is not checks and balances. This is judicial tyranny.”

Speaker Johnson announced that House Republicans will soon introduce legislation to restructure the federal judiciary by eliminating or consolidating district courts that have, in Johnson’s view, repeatedly interfered with lawful executive actions. While the proposal’s constitutional basis is sure to face scrutiny, Johnson said Congress has “clear authority under Article III to establish and regulate the lower courts.”

The legislation, dubbed the ‘Judicial Decentralization and Accountability Act,’ would target specific federal jurisdictions that have issued repeated nationwide injunctions against Trump-era and Trump 2.0 policies, from immigration to federal deregulation to national security directives.

“We are not talking about judicial review. We’re talking about judicial sabotage,” Johnson said. “If rogue courts want to play politics, then Congress has a duty to rein them in.”

Legal scholars and political opponents wasted no time condemning the move. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer called Johnson’s remarks “an authoritarian threat to the independence of the judiciary,” while legal experts warned that eliminating courts based on their rulings could violate constitutional norms.

Democratic lawmakers are expected to mount fierce opposition to the bill, and even some moderate Republicans have signaled discomfort with what they view as an extreme approach. However, Johnson remained defiant, framing the move as part of a broader effort to restore constitutional order.

Trump Praises Johnson and said, “SPEAKER MIKE JOHNSON IS 100% RIGHT! These out-of-control Obama judges have been a disaster. We’re taking our country BACK! MAGA!!!”

The proposed legislation is expected to be introduced in the coming weeks, sparking what is likely to be one of the most contentious constitutional showdowns in decades. Legal challenges are inevitable, and any changes to the judiciary would also need to clear the Senate—where Republicans still hold a narrow majority.

In the meantime, Speaker Johnson has clarified that he sees this as a defining battle.

“We cannot allow partisan judges to override the will of the people,” he said. “We will restore balance to our system. This is not just a legal fight—it’s a fight for the soul of the republic.”

Final Word: The fundamental question is whether Congress will secure sufficient votes to restructure the federal court system or if they will opt to remain cautious and allow radical judges to rule America once more.
