(Tea Party PAC) – When President Trump ran for office he made some pretty lofty promises that many took with a grain of salt. Lo and behold, when Trump was in office he managed to keep nearly all of his promises and America was better for it.
Then came Joe Biden. When he was campaigning during 2019 and 2020 he made lots of promises too. The only difference was, he made so many conflicting promises no one would even be able to tell if he kept them or not.
He’s definitely kept at least some of them and, as was expected, it’s all the ones that fall in line with the left’s radical agenda.
When he promised blue collar workers in Pennsylvania that he was not a threat to fracking, we all knew that was a lie.
However, on Sept. 6, 2019, when Biden promised a woman that he was going to end fossil fuels, he meant it.
In his trademark creepy way, Biden grabbed the woman by the hand and said, “I want you to look in my eyes, I guarantee you, I guarantee you, we’re going to end fossil fuel, and I am not going to cooperate with them.”
Moving past the creepiness of his physical interaction with the young woman, this incident should have been extremely concerning to Americans. The threat to end fossil fuels posed a serious threat to the health and well-being of America’s economy.
Given Biden’s propensity to make all kinds of promises based on his audience, most people just assumed he was mostly full of hot air, you know, like a typical politician. After all, Biden’s actual track record is full of broken promises.
However, Biden seemed to have stayed true to this particular promise, just like the majority of Americans knew he would. Now gas prices have skyrocketed and are still surging up thanks to his actions (not Putin’s.)
The entire first year of his sham presidency has been dedicated to keeping this promise, as a matter of fact. Instead of owning it, since he said it and all, he’s desperately trying to pass the buck. Did he actually think Americans were going to be happy with him for breaking their bank accounts?
The Biden regime has vehemently insisted that we can all thank Russian President Vladimir Putin for the surge in gas prices. It’s because of Putin’s aggression and the US sanctions against him that prices are rising.
Never mind the fact that they were soaring before Russia moved on Ukraine.
Sure, the Russia-Ukraine conflict has contributed to gas prices rising but the Republican Study Committee has analyzed every action Biden has taken against the energy industry over the last 15 months and it’s clear it’s his own actions that have been most detrimental to Americans.
The RSC compared Biden’s actions to the price of gas each subsequent week. When Biden usurped the White House on Jan. 20, 2021, gas was averaging $2.38 per gallon. On that very day Biden issued a “Climate Change” Executive Order “requiring agencies to review and revoke Trump’s pro-American energy rules and actions throughout the executive branch.”
Also, on the same day, he revoked the Keystone XL Pipeline, issued a moratorium on oil and gas leasing in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and revoked Trump-era policies that had decreased regulations on federal land.
As if all of that wasn’t enough, in the following weeks he took many more actions against oil and gas production in the US including calling on federal agencies to achieve “carbon neutrality” by 2025 and issuing a moratorium on new oil and gas leases on public lands, among other radical moves.
After just one month into Biden’s regime, during the week of Feb. 22, 2021, gas prices had risen over 25 cents to $2.63 per gallon but the nightmare was only just beginning.
On March 11, 2021, Biden signed the so-called “American Rescue Plan Act” but it included a $50 million slush fund dedicated to “environmental justice” groups and another $50 million of grant money for the Clean Air Act aimed at reducing “pollution-related activities.”
By the week of May 17, 2021, after a number of other attacks on the oil and gas industry, the price of gas per gallon had surpassed $3.00. The following week, Biden issued revenue proposals for the 2022 fiscal year that included almost $150 billion in tax increases for oil and gas companies.
The Biden regime continued taking action against the oil and gas industry over the course of the next few months. Biden has desperately tried to convince Americans that he is doing the right thing and that attacking fossil fuels is in the best interest of the US.
He didn’t just stop at directly attacking oil and gas companies. He even began making moves involving other agencies as well. For example, on Sept. 9, 2021, the Dept. of Education announced a Climate Action Plan “to incorporate the green agenda into as many guidance and policies as possible.”
That’s communist-level propaganda at its finest.
The fun didn’t stop there. The US Department of Labor, the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Energy all announced their own Climate Action Plans by October. Each one promised to focus on or subsidize “green” energy sources instead of fossil fuels.
As you can imagine, gas prices only continued to soar. By the week of October 18, 2021, gas was averaging $3.32 per gallon.
On Nov. 19, 2021, Biden’s Build Back Better plan passed the House of Representatives which included increased royalties for oil and gas production both on and offshore and an $8 billion tax on companies producing, transmitting or storing oil and gas starting in 2023.
Build Back Better also included a 6.7 cent increase on the tax per barrel of crude oil. According to the RSC, this amounted to a $13 billion tax increase.
Fortunately, not all Democrats in Congress are radicals and the plan did not pass the Senate. The fact is, however, that Biden’s proposals prove just how determined he and his regime are in destroying the energy industry in the US and how little they really care about gas prices for average Americans.
There’s a long list of other actions taken by the Biden regime that has led us to gas being $4.25 a gallon today.
Gas prices are not Putin’s fault and, quite frankly, it’s insulting that Joe Biden and his regime would think Americans were stupid enough and gullible enough to believe that.
It’s also insulting that they think we can’t see what’s really going on here. Clearly, this is all about control. If only Americans would just do as the government pleases and ditch their gas-powered vehicles for $50,000 electric cars, everything would just be so much more simple.
Don’t worry about the fact that the federal government could then shut off our vehicles when our social credit scores don’t measure up. Don’t worry about the fact that electric vehicles are hardly a “cleaner” solution. Don’t ask questions. Just do as the government says.
If we don’t, they’ll just keep trying to force our hand. After all, if everyone just bought electric cars we wouldn’t have to worry about gas prices, right?
